Welcome to Playlistation. We respect and value the privacy of everyone who visits our website and uses our services, and we ensure that all personal information is treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the various data protection laws.

Personal Data Collection and Use

We collect personal data provided by the Spotify API when you choose to log in with your Spotify account, and share this data with Playlistation.
This include your Spotify user ID, username, and email. We need your Spotify ID to communicate with Spotify's API, and we display your username in our app for a more personalized user experience.
Your email can be used for important notifications related to our service. If you decide to pay for a plus or pro subscription, we use your email for payment processing with our payment provider, Stripe, as it requires an email to send invoices.

Data Collection Method

When you access the app, you are redirected to Spotify with a screen that list the permissions and data that Playlistation will be able to access. You can choose to accept and continue or refuse and not use the app.

Data hosting

The website https://playlistation.com and the Playlistation API, which is where your account and your playlists are stored, are hosted by OVH RCS Roubaix, 2 rue Kellermann - 59100 Roubaix - France.

The app at https://playlistation.app is a set of static files served by Firebase Hosting, a Google service, delivered from Google's global network. No account data is stored there — the app runs in your browser and every request it makes about your data goes to the API in France — but Google logs the requests for those files, as any content-delivery network does.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data with any third-party companies.

We share data with third party companies for these specific legit reasons:

  • Payment provider: When you choose to pay for a plan, a payment link is created on Stripe with your email pre-filled
  • Support and feedback provider: the app's chat, feedback, roadmap and changelog are provided by Featurebase. If you accept cookies in the app, we send them your Playlistation id, your email, your Spotify display name and avatar, and your language, so that your messages and your suggestions are tied to your account. Anything you write in the chat or post on the portal is processed by Featurebase. If you refuse, nothing is loaded and you can use the public portal anonymously.
  • Error monitoring: application errors are reported to Sentry so that we can find and fix them. A report carries the technical details of the failure plus your Playlistation id, your email address and your Spotify display name, so that we can tell whether a problem hits one account or everybody. For errors in the app, it also includes a replay of the seconds of your session that led to the error; anything you typed into a field is hidden from it. Sentry processes and stores this on infrastructure in the United States.
  • Audience measurement: we use PostHog Cloud EU to understand how the product is used. It receives events from two places. In your browser, PostHog only starts once you have accepted cookies, and stops the moment you withdraw that (see Cookies below). On our servers, we also record a small set of product events — signing in, creating a playlist, and the like — attached to your Playlistation id, your Spotify id, display name and avatar, and your country, language, plan and library size. Those server-side events set no cookie and read nothing from your device, so they do not depend on the cookie choice; they never include your email address.

  • NEXT_LOCALE: To store the locale (language) to display the website in.
  • Cookies prefixed with "ph": are stored by PostHog Cloud EU, our audience measurement tool. They are set only once you have accepted cookies — PostHog is not even loaded before you answer — and you can withdraw that at any time in Settings, under Display.
  • Cookies stored by Featurebase: they run the support chat and the feedback features inside the app. They are not essential and are only set once you have agreed; you can withdraw that at any time in Settings, under Display.

Managing Your Data
